Neelam is a famous South Indian Mango variety primarily grown in Tamilnadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. It is a fibreless mango that is sweet and creamy texture. It has good shelf life compared to all other mango varieties. Each piece weighs on an average of 100-200gms. Neelam mangoes are available during end of season and takes more time to ripe than other varieties.

Small black spots often appear on ripe Neelum Mango, and in most cases this is normal. It is caused due to sap burn marks, storage and handling stress.
Neelam mangoes are late season variety, often starts at the end of May and lasts till July where most of the mango season ends.
The sweetness of Neelum Mango is excellent when the fruit is fully ripened. This variety usually arrives towards the end of the mango season, often during the early rainy period. Because of the cooler and humid conditions, the mangoes ripen more slowly, which helps develop better sweetness and flavour.
